It’s time to sign up for Holiday Gift Shop Fundraisers

I wrote a post on this subject last year and posted a list of fundraising companies that offer holiday gift shops. It is not too late to have a holiday shop fundraiser this year. These types of fundraisers, sometimes called “Secret Santa Shops” are usually held by elementary schools. The fundraising company provides a selection of reasonably priced gift items that are sold over several days to the students. The kids love shopping on their own and having a surprises to give family and friends. You need to have parent volunteers available to help out with this during the day.

Fundraising Idea - Online Shopping through Charity Malls

Online Charity Malls offer a way for your nonprofit organization, school or club to earn money. You many not be familiar with this type of online shopping fundraiser, however, some of these shopping websites are well established and have been around for many years. Essentially, these shopping websites are portals that represent online retailers. When a purchase is made online through one of these charity malls your organization splits the commission that is earned by the charity mall website.

Join A Day of Hope — Provide Thanksgiving Meals to Needy Families

A Day of Hope is a volunteer based not-for-profit organization that delivers baskets of food and turkeys to needy and hungry families for Thanksgiving in Northern California. It was started by Christopher Scott after reading a book called Notes from a Friend.

In the book there is a story of how Anthony Robbins received a Thanksgiving basket as a young boy when his family had no food to eat. This inspired Scott to try and make a difference in the lives of needy people during Thanksgiving. So he began A Day of Hope in 2005.

On their first Thanksgiving A Day of Hope fundraised about $700 and delivered 48 Thanksgiving baskets to 48 families.

On their second Thanksgiving in 2006 they fundraised $5,800 and delivered 211 Thanksgiving baskets to 211 familes.

Their goal for Thanksgiving 2007 is to deliver 750 baskets of food and turkeys to 750 families.

You can help out this year by donating food, time, or money. Read more about this at Scott’s Squidoo lens and websites.
