Do-it-Yourself Fundraising Squidoo Lens

DIYFundraising now has a Squidoo lens. Squidoo is something new and unique. So much so, that it’s difficult to describe exactly what it is, it’s kind of like a blog and a search engine rolled into one. Anyone can create a Squidoo lens on a topic that matters to him or her. Squidoo is free to join and once you do, you can create a web page on your topic. Your page can point to blogs, favorite links, RSS feeds, Flickr photos, Google maps, eBay auctions, CafePress designs, Amazon books or music, and more. When someone searches on Squidoo for your topic they’ll find your lens and your recommendations. According to Suidoo “it’s a place for searchers to start, not finish.”

Squidoo offers opportunties for fundraisers and fundraising, which is why I wanted to build a Squidoo lense. As I mentioned, you can recommend Amazon books, eBay auctions, and CafePress products on your Squidoo lens. If that results in a sale, Squidoo shares the commission with you. You can then donate your commission to a charity or other nonprofit that has registered with Squidoo. I will be writing a more in-depth article in the near future on fundraising opportunities with a Squidoo lens. In the meantime, check out www.squidoo.com/diyfundraising.
